Ingredients

What’s inside matters.

We believe you should know what you’re putting on your skin.

Our formulas are intentionally small, thoughtfully made, and built around ingredients that actually serve a purpose.

No filler. No mystery jar. Just ingredients that earn their place.

Grass Fed + Finished Tallow

Tallow is the foundation of Twin Tallow.

We start with locally sourced Arizona beef suet from grass fed, grass finished, pasture raised cows. Suet is the dense fat found around the kidneys, and when it’s slowly rendered and purified, it becomes the smooth, creamy tallow we use in our formulas.

What makes tallow especially interesting in skincare is its naturally rich fatty acid profile.

It contains oleic acid, stearic acid, and palmitic acid, These fatty acids contribute to its soft, emollient texture and its ability to help condition dry skin.

Oleic acid contributes to tallow’s rich, spreadable feel.

Stearic acid adds structure and helps give the balm its smooth, cushiony texture.

Palmitic acid contributes to the soft, conditioned feel tallow leaves on the skin.

Together, these lipids create a rich emollient that helps soften the skin and support moisture retention especially when skin feels dry, depleted, or easily stripped.

Tallow is not identical to the skin’s natural barrier, and it isn’t a replacement for the ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids naturally found in the stratum corneum. What it does offer is a simple, lipid-rich layer that helps keep skin feeling soft, comfortable, and moisturized.

Rich in naturally occurring fatty acids. Simple by design.

Organic Jojoba Oil

Found in our Beauty Balm.

Jojoba is one of those ingredients that just belongs with tallow.

Technically, it’s a liquid wax, and its structure is very similar to the wax esters naturally found in our own sebum.

That’s what makes it so interesting.

It gives tallow a lighter slip, helps the balm melt and spread more easily, and keeps the formula feeling rich without feeling heavy.

Tallow brings the richness. Jojoba gives it the glide.

Raw Vitamin E

Vitamin E quietly does a lot.

It helps protect the skin from oxidative stress, supports the barrier, and helps the skin hold onto moisture more effectively.

I especially love it in Beauty Balm because it adds another layer of conditioning without overcomplicating the formula.

It protects, conditions, and rounds everything out.

Lavender Essential Oil

Found in our Original Beauty Balm.

Lavender is used lightly for its soft herbal aroma and calming sensory feel.

It gives the formula a subtle botanical finish without overpowering the rest of the balm.

Prefer to skip essential oils? Our Unscented Beauty Balm keeps things even simpler.

Mango Butter

Used in our Skin Whips.

Mango butter comes from the seed inside the mango fruit, where the kernel is pressed into a naturally rich, creamy butter.

It’s full of fatty acids that help soften, condition, and support the skin’s moisture barrier.

What I love most is the texture.

Mango butter gives our Skin Whips that plush, cushiony feel without making the skin feel waxy or coated.

Paired with tallow, it’s such a good match.

Tallow brings the nourishment. Mango butter brings the softness.

Horsetail + Nettle Infusion

This is really the heart of Root Bloom.

Horsetail is naturally rich in silica and has a long history of use in hair and scalp care because of its connection to strength and structure.

Nettle brings naturally occurring minerals and plant compounds and has traditionally been used in scalp and hair formulas for its nourishing qualities.

But the real difference is the process.

We don’t rush it.

Horsetail + nettle are slowly infused for six full weeks, giving the oil time to take on their botanical compounds before I blend it with pumpkin seed oil, tallow, and either Rosemary Cineole or Cedarwood Atlas.

That slow infusion is what makes Root Bloom feel different from a basic scalp oil.

Horsetail brings the strength. Nettle brings the nourishment. Time brings them together.

Pumpkin Seed Oil

Pumpkin seed oil is one of my favorite ingredients in Root Bloom because it gives the scalp exactly the kind of support I wanted this formula to have.

It’s naturally rich in essential fatty acids, vitamin E, phytosterols, and antioxidants that help condition the scalp and support its moisture barrier.

It also gives Root Bloom a lighter slip, helping the herbal infusion and tallow spread more easily without leaving the scalp feeling coated or heavy.

A healthy scalp matters.

The skin around the follicle needs to feel supported too.

Good hair care really does start at the root.

Rosemary Cineole

Used in Root Bloom Original.

I use Rosemary Cineole from Eden Botanicals because the chemotype actually matters.

Rosemary can have very different chemical profiles depending on the plant and where it’s grown. Cineole is the version I chose for its fresh, stimulating, scalp focused feel.

It gives Root Bloom Original that clean, invigorating, almost awakening quality.

And for me, Root Bloom was never going to be “throw some rosemary in an oil and call it hair growth.”

The entire formula is built around supporting the scalp environment.

Rosemary is the more stimulating piece of that formula.

Cedarwood Atlas

Used in Root Bloom Sensitive.

For the Sensitive formula, I wanted something softer than rosemary without making the formula feel less purposeful.

That’s why I chose Cedarwood Atlas from Eden Botanicals.

This is true Cedrus atlantica, not one of the juniper oils that can sometimes get grouped under the cedarwood name.

It has a warm, woody, grounding profile and gives the Sensitive formula its own personality.

Paired with our horsetail + nettle infusion, pumpkin seed oil, and tallow, it creates a scalp treatment that feels conditioning, balanced, and comfortable.

It’s a better fit for scalps that are dry, reactive, easily irritated, or simply don’t love stronger stimulation.

Same Root Bloom foundation. Just a gentler approach.

Seasonal Scents + Tints

Seasonal products like Cider Glow, Toasted Maple Crème, and other limited releases may include additional flavor, scent, shimmer, or tint components.

Because those formulas change seasonally, the full ingredient list for each limited release is always listed directly on its product page.

Our Standard

We don’t choose ingredients because they sound impressive.

We choose them because they belong in the formula.

Every ingredient should have a reason for being there.

No filler. No unnecessary extras. No mystery jar.
